A Revolutionary approach to Scuba training

The Dive Shop introduces a revolutionary approach to scuba training. As you may know, when a new skill is learned, instruction can be broken into 3 parts

Scuba instruction is no different! At The Dive Shop we have revolutionized this age old concept with our new and exciting Three Step Programme!!

First Step - Theory Home Study
Your home study preparation for your course starts one week before your course date. At this time, your Student Kit is available to pick up at The Dive Shop. The Kit contains your Open Water Training manual and Repetitive Dive Table with instructions. The user-friendly Manual consist of five or six chapters with lots of good illustrations and is easy to read. At the end of each chapter, you will find a one-page Knowledge Review Questionnaire which you will need to complete. Please bring these answer sheets (or photocopies thereof) when you come to start the classroom-pool training.

Second Step - Classroom and Pool Training
Now it is time to get wet! For your convenience, The Dive Shop uses a modern heated indoor pool to make your in-water training both comfortable and safe. The classroom is located in the same facility, which allows us to alternate between pool and classroom quickly, using the available time most effectively. The pool temperature is kept at a comfortable level however, we have wetsuits available for rent at $10/day in case extra comfort is needed. After successfully answering some simple quizes and a final exam, you are ready for the third and last step, the Practical Open Water Experience.

Third Step - Practical Open Water Experiene
When you are ready to complete your certification, you make the transformation from pool to open water by participating in four (4) open water dives, over a two-day period, with an instructor. After successful completion, you will have earned your prestigious international Open Water Scuba Diver License. The Dive Shop conducts these open water dives in local waters on weekends (see below), two dives on Saturdays and two dives on Sundays. Dives must be logged and the log signed by the instructor. Logbooks are available at The Dive Shop.

Option A: Complete your four dives locally, or during an excursion with The Dive Shop. The certification fee, use of regulator, tank, BCD and wetsuit are included in your course fee. Two passport photos are required at your open water dives. Stop by and sign up at The Dive Shop.

Option B: Complete your dives in the sunny south at any SSI facility. We will provide you with the required referral certificate valid for one year. Any cost for such certification dives not done with The Dive Shop will be your responsibility. Costs vary according by location/facility.
